The tasting bar
Eleven Stools at the Back
The old haberdashery counter fits exactly eleven stools. We pour 75 ml at a time, short on purpose, so a flight of five costs about the same as two full glasses and you leave knowing five growers instead of one.
- Flight of three, 75 ml each$18
- Flight of five, 75 ml each$28
- A glass, 150 ml$11-$17
- Bar board$16Local bread, two cheeses, olives and pickled walnuts.
- Any shelf bottle, opened at the bar+$10On top of the shelf price, poured at your stool.
Walk in, there are no bookings at the bar. Last pour is 30 minutes before close. Six or more of you? Email a day ahead and we'll push stools together.
Nine bottles, nearest grower first

Where it grows
Nothing on the Shelf Grew More Than an Hour Away
Every bottle comes from a Hawke's Bay grower inside sixty kilometres of the shop. That ring takes in the sea-facing slopes at Bay View, the river stones of the Heretaunga Plains and the terraces up the Tukituki, and stops there.
Most of these growers have no cellar door of their own, so the shelf and the bar are where you taste them. The shelf runs the same way the map does: nearest grower top left, furthest bottom right.
